Two New BIG & SWEET Drums

“Little darling,
the smiles returning to the faces,
Little darling,
it seems like years since it’s been here.
Here comes the sun”
— The Beatles

brother thunder powwow drum

It’s a busy and exciting time in the ol’ drum maker’s shop because Spring has Sprung and drums are blooming! Just look at what has sprouted over the past few days.

The Brother Thunder Powwow Drum (above)

This beautiful 4-6 player powwow drum is so very strong and surprisingly lightweight at the same time. Its tough laminated maple frame and thick buffalo hide give this 3+ -pound powwow a big booming voice. Good thing, its name is the Brother Thunder Powwow Drum. I write more about it on the website.

Here’s its custom-made solid wood drum stand.

And here’s what makes it so special…

spirit shield for brother thunder powwow drum

This spirit shield came to me in dreamtime the day that Brother Thunder arrived. The sacred circle is wrapped in lacing that has been coated with copper, and the dual leather-wrapped shafts feature the Earth (blue horizontal for the former, a tradition among many tribal peoples), and Sky (white on the vertical, again a traditional color). In this case, it is like lightning streaking down and animating the Good Earth and all of life with rain. In the center is a lightning bolt symbol I cut from a small piece of Lightning-Struck cherry wood and mounted it at the axis center with a turquoise bead and copper pin. Altogether, the piece aims to honor the Lightning Beings and the Thunderers in their eternal dance of life. (More about this on the site.)

Right now I am offering the Brother Thunder Drum and drum stand with free shipping.

And I’m not done yet! Look at this…

new 20 inch elk drum from thunder valley drums

20-Inch Elk Drum (above)

This is a first for Thunder Valley Drums, a huge 20-inch Elk drum. Goodness sake! Seriously, you need to hear this drum! The slightest tap awakens a very deep, resonant voice that carries through and lingers like rolling thunder. Strike it with force, and you get REVERB!

You’ll find it in the Budget Drums section. I’ve seen such drums offered for $300, but this one is only $195, and includes one of my custom drumsticks.

Both of these drums, The Brother Thunder and 20″ Elk are made in the U.S. by master drum makers in the native style. But they both also come with Thunder Valley Drums’ DNA, given the use of copper ornamentation and sacred preparation. A drum does not leave the shop without receiving proper and respectful honor in the sacred circle where many beings gather,  where the holy smudge smoke is offered to all, and where healing is sought and given with the aid of the Medicine Drums. In short, the drums are recognized as honored members of the circle who bring their dedication to you.

I’ve also obtained 14″ and 15″ Elk drums to include on the site, namely because Elk is preferred by some, and these sizes are more portable and flexible for long use. I’d have offered these sooner, but it has taken a while to locate a dependable source of such drums of high quality.

I would be honored to send one to you.

Aho & Namaste,
Bob
